WORKING FOR THE WEEKEND
It feels like I’m always working for the weekend,
forgetting the reason why I was created,
as I perform for the world from eight to five
then drop to the couch, so weary at night,
overlooking the call placed upon my life
by my Audience of One, my Savior ~
Jesus Christ.
Lord, I so want your Light to shine through me each day,
that my distracted, self-centered flesh would remain at bay,
that my highest and best use . . . today and every day
would be to always bring you glory,
openly share your story,
live for less of me
and more of you.
Remind me, Lord, I’m not working for the weekend,
but I’m living to daily serve and worship you.
